This one is probably my favorite cover in all the Black Oak books (and my favorite hero). I wanted to have a very gothic feel for this book so this is what I asked Frauke (my cover designer) in my email when I described what I wanted:
The hero – Necromancer Malcolm Dunsmuir:
Super rugged, badass, dark– Jason Momoa type in any of his pictures. Facial hair totally ok. A back with the guy looking over his shoulder would be great too. I love the look of the add for the movie Braven: both the guy’s physical appearance and the pose.
Mood:
Set in Seattle. This guy can raise the dead, so any “crypt/cemetery/graveyard at night in a city” elements would work great: mausoleum, tombstones, that kind of things.
Definitely one of my favorite!
